Petra Sihombing

Petra Joshua Sihombing (born April 10th 1992), known professionally as Petra Sihombing, is an Indonesian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. Born and raised in Jakarta, Petra was surrounded by music by his father, Franky Sihombing, and his musical peers. He graduated from Institut Musik Indonesia with an arts degree in music composition. In 2009, he signed a recording contract with HITS Records until 2016 then continued releasing under his own name without a major label. Petra Sihombing was nominated by Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids’ Choice Awards in 2011 for Favorite Male Singer and Dahsyatnya Awards 2015 for Solo Pria Terdahsyat. In March 2017, Petra released a single, Nirmala, from his upcoming album to be released in early 2018.

After taking drum lessons for approximately three years, Petra felt like there was something greater than just rhythms and beats. He had a passion in his heart to explore what music is all about. At the age of 11, he starts learning how to play the guitar. His father sought his potential and from that time on, his love for playing music has brought him touring all over Indonesia and Australia, playing for his father’s solo album tours. 

At the age of 13, he was a self-taught studio engineer for AGP Studio, owned by his father; from then on started learning how to arrange music by himself. At the age of 14, he began composing and writing songs. His first released song was called “River of Love” performed by Franky Sihombing in the album “Rayakan 5: River of Love.” He was also the music arranger for a few other songs on that album.
