Biography

Yussef Dayes, a South London-raised producer, composer, and drummer, is a tour-de-force known for his electrifying live performances. Born in a home where musical experimentation was embraced, he developed an ear for various musical styles, including East/West African rhythms and grime and jungle. His philosophy around jazz as a form of black classical music is based on this music. Dayes meteoric rise came through his short-lived duo Yussef Kamaal, with whom he released Black Focus in 2016. In 2018, he launched his own imprint Cashmere Thoughts Recordings and released several solo releases, including Love is The Message live at Abbey Road Studios. He has collaborated with the finest talents across music and fashion, including leading the curation of the soundtrack to various events. In 2022, he created a joint release with Soulection entitled Live At Joshua Tree.
